Marquetry Jardiniere

Regular price €530

An antique French centerpiece or "jardiniere de table" dating to the Napoleon III era, late 19th century. The beautiful cache pot is made of wood inlaid. The marquetry depicts diamonds. The wood art work is enhanced by gilded brass and bronze hardware. It comes with its original zinc container. It is very rare to find it.

"Marquetry (also spelled as marqueterie; from the French marqueter, to varigate) is the art and craft of applying pieces of veneer to a structure to form decorative patterns, designs or pictures."

Overall good antique condition with some signs of ages like: small wood cracks, wears of the net, holes and cracks on the zinc container.

Please take a close look at the photos, they are an integral part of the description.
