Antique Wood Lantern
A beautiful French antique chandelier dating to the 19th century. The painted and carved wood lantern used to be a processional lantern used during religious processions in France, at the end of a stick. Usually processional lanterns are made of brass, wooden ones are rare. The lamp is finely decorated with golden carved motifs: acanthus leaves motifs. The top is surrounded by a frieze of gilt metal shells. The inside is painted in red.
CONDITION: Overall good antique condition with some normal signs of ages. Some metal parts are broken, one has been glued (quite fragile). Old wood worms holes. Electricity made in the 1950's is ok.
