A gorgeous antique French pectoral crucifix dating to the 19th century. The rare cross pendant was created by a Master Goldsmith: Alexandre Chertier (1826-1890). The reverse features the icon of Madonna and Jesus child "Notre Dame de Consolation" (Our Lady of Comfort). Two ends of the cross displays Jesus and Mary Sacred Hearts. The top depicts the chrism. "Nunc Nobis Lux In Domino", these Latine words mean "Now We have Light in the Lord". This jewelry is beautifully crafted. Entirely made from sterling silver (hallmarked), it weighs 42g and measures 3.75 inches high (9.5cm). Signed Chertier on the reverse.

Jean-Alexandre Chertier was a Parisian master goldsmith who founded the House Chertier in 1857. He specialized in liturgical and religious silverware and collaborates with prestigious "diocesan architects and scholars such as Danjoy, Viollet-le-Duc, Verdier, Chabrol. He received important commissions for major churches in France and even abroad".
