"The Association of the Children of Mary, originally called the Congregation, was created in France in the 1830s by the teaching community of the Daughters of Charity, following the request made by the Virgin Mary to the novice Catherine Labouré. It was recognized by the Vatican in 1847 and then spread throughout Catholic countries."

"To enter the Congregation of the Children of Mary is to accept Mary as Mother and to put oneself in her school of life which always leads us to her Son our Lord Jesus Christ.
If the Mother of God is the Mother of all Christians, if her maternal hands are like two inexhaustible springs from which flow the most abundant graces of God to all the faithful, how much more profusely will she pour them out on souls who have consecrated themselves in a very special way.
What is entering the Congregation? It is an act of faith. It is to proclaim before the Angels and before men that one wants to devote oneself to the cult of Mary and Mary is pleased to say: "Since she chooses me as her Mother, I accept her as My daughter, since she takes me as her Patroness, I will grant her My protection, since she designates me as her Advocate, I will plead her cause until I have drawn her close to Me in Heaven."
