A beautiful French antique marquetry round panel depicting a woman climbing a tree in the Art Deco style. The souvenir wall piece is signed by the French artist on the low right corner: Rim ? The wooden piece has been totally handcrafted from small pieces of wood to create a picture. This art is named: marquetry.

"Marquetry (also spelled as marqueterie; from the French marqueter, to varigate) is the art and craft of applying pieces of veneer to a structure to form decorative patterns, designs or pictures."

On the back, there is a photo of an old lady and her dog and a hand written inscription: "Souvenir to my sons liberators, of his grandmother of Alsace, ..., Nov 1945". This Art Deco wood inlaid marquetry dates from the WWII period.

Good antique condition with some normal signs of ages.
