This is a wonderful silvered bronze medal dating to the Art Nouveau period. It depicts Orpheus with its lyre and on the reverse an allegory of ‘Glory’ with an angel holding a plume and musical instrument.
The pendant has been signed L. Coudray. The artist (1864-1932) is a French medaillist, engraver and sculptor. He won the first "grand prix de Rome" in 1893 with this medal called "Orphée endort Cerbère aux sons de sa lyre".
The medal is marked bronze on the edge.
Overall good antique condition with some signs of ages like silver use.
