Japanese Kutani Wedding Tea Cups
A delightful pair of antique Japanese wedding tea cups with lid. They depict all around the pot and the cover a hundred poets of Japan. The Satsuma decor has been totally hand painted on a gold background. The interior is extensively covered with brush writings and there is the signature of the artist.
Saiji is the term given to this micro calligraphy. This art form was originated by Seizan Oda and passed down through the family to his descendants Kinsei Tamura and Keisei Tamura.
Condition: overall good antique condition: no repairs, no cracks, no hairlines.
