Pair Perret Gentil Plates
A magnificent French antique pair of majolica plates made by Perret Gentil in Menton. The colorful turquoise plates feature a trompe l'oeil decor of lemon with pendant flowering and fruiting citrus branches. The glaze is amazing.
The reverse is black painted initials P.G M for Perret-Gentil of Menton, circa 1900. His production is referenced in the book "Barbotines de la cote d'azur" by Maryse Bottero.
Please, take a close look at the pictures. Good antique condition. One plate has a splinter on one flower petal and one small chip on a leaf. (see photos 3 & 4)
Diameter: 5 3/4" (14.7cm)
