A fabulous set of nine antique French Bordeaux ironstone dinner plates. The blue transferware decor features the famous model: "Volière" (Aviary), showing farm animals as hen and chicks, ducks etc. These plates date from the late 19th century. Each plate has the manufacturer's stamp on the back: JV & Cie Bx for Jules Vieillard & Cie Bordeaux. The pottery manufacture opened in 1845 and closed in 1895. The quality of the Bordeaux pottery was recognized by the French Emperor Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte himself. 

This set of nine plates would be fabulous to add a French country ambiance to your table. 

Eight plates are similar, one depicts ducks at the bottom. Some plates have lighter glaze. Good condition, no crack, no splinter.
