Antique Agnus Dei dating to the 19th century. The wax medallion features the paschal lamb and on the other side the figure of the Saint Louis of Gonzague. "An Agnus Dei is a devotional object in the form of a white wax medallion. It is usually blessed by the pope during Holy Week. Of very old tradition, the "Agnus Dei" are not manufactured since the middle of the years 1960. " "The Agnus Dei are composed of white wax from the remains of the Paschal candle (those of the major basilicas) mixed with the Holy Chrism. The wax of the candles offered to the pope for Candlemas was also added."

This Agnus Dei reliquary was made during the reign of Blessed Pope Pius IX (1846-1878). It is protected by a two glass panes.
