Rare Gothic Crucifix Bronze Goldsmith A. CHERTIER Paris
Rare crowned crucifix in the Gothic style, surmounted by the trigram INRI, from the XIXth century. This crucifix is in bronze with foliage and two saints at each end and in its center the crowned Christ. Rare piece from the house of Goldsmith in Paris Alexandre Chertier. On the back a stamp : A. CHERTIER, Goldsmith in Paris.
Alexandre Chertier, Active between 1855 and 1878 in Paris. Goldsmith who started with Bachelet before founding his own company, specialized in goldsmithing and church bronze. Address: 48, rue Mazarine in Paris, and from 1866, 7, rue Férou. It was then taken over from 1896 by Edmond, then Louis Lesage. He won medals at the Universal Exhibitions of 1855 and 1878.
The Musée d'Orsay has objects of this goldsmith.
Good antique condition with some normal signs of wears.
