A vintage beautiful French statue dating to the 1940's. The white glaze ceramic sculpture features a magnificent pair of elephants: a mother and her baby (elephant calf). The Art Deco statue has been designed by Charles Lemanceau (1905-1980). Charles Lemanceau is a French animal sculptor known for its Art Deco style. He worked with different pottery company as St Clement, and Ste Radegonde. Our charming elephants sculpture was produced by Ste Radegonde. It bears the green letters SRG on the underside.
The statue has not been signed Lemanceau but Leroy. I did not find anything about a sculptor named Leroy and found similar statues signed Lemanceau so I assume that it was a pseudonym used by Charles Lemanceau.
CONDITION: overall good antique condition with some signs of ages. No cracks, no chips.
Please take a close look at the photos, they are an integral part of the description.
