Bates Elliot & Co Grecian Set of 8 Dinner Plates
Bates Elliot & Co Grecian Set of 8 Dinner Plates
Bates Elliot & Co has produced this grouping of 8 plates ( 9" diameters, typical dinner plate at turn of 19th century, c.1870, when these were made). The charming lavender decor features printed underglaze greek motifs. This pattern is called "Grecian Border". They're fabulous plates you'll enjoy using. Not just cabinet plates, this set will take you from informal to formal table settings in style. The mark on back was used in the 1870's: lavender underglaze maker mark noting "English Porcelain BE&Co", as maker, BE & Co for Bates Elliot and Co.
CONDITION: Good condition for age and type. The color can change from a plate to another (more or less purple). Some normals signs of ages like some light stains ("tea stains") on the ironstone, light flaws of the enamel. One plate has a small chip on the rim. A really wonderful old set.
Please take a close look at the photos, they are an integral part of the description.
