A beautiful antique French religious medal dating to the early 20th century. The pendant features a fine portrait of Jesuit Saint Aloysius Gonzaga (1568-1591). "In 1729, Pope Benedict XIII declared Aloysius de Gonzaga to be the patron saint of young students. In 1926, he was named patron of all Christian youth by Pope Pius XI. Owing to the manner of his death, he has been considered a patron saint of plague victims."
The reverse of the religious pendant depicts Our lady Virgin Mary. "O Mary Conceived without sins, pray for us". The pendant has ben engraved by the French engravers Penin Poncet.
CONDITION:
Good antique condition with some normal signs of ages.
