A French antique religious medal dating to the early 20th century. The pendant features Our lady Virgin Mary standing upon a globe. Blessed Mary is surrounded by the latine sentence:
"posuerunt me custodem civit" meaning in English: "they made me the guardian of the city". The reverse of this Mary Guardian of the City amulet has been engraved with the initials EG and with the words and dates St Jean 1912-1915 Lyon.
The large pendant has been engraved by the French engraver Ludovic Penin (1830-1868) and is made of sterling silver.
CONDITION: good with some signs of ages. The sterling silver hallmark disappeared because the ring has been repaired.
