Motherhood Terracotta Sculpture by LE GULUCHE and HANNE
Motherhood Terracotta Sculpture by LE GULUCHE and HANNE
RARE French Antique Motherhood Terracotta Sculpture of Mother and Baby 19th Century Statue by Joseph Le Guluche
A delightful French antique sculpture dating to the late 19th century. The statue is entitled "He sleeps so well". It features a young baby sleeping in his mother's arms. When you look at it closely, you can see that the mother's décolleté is widely opened. That suggests that the baby has fallen asleep while suckling. The mother can't move for fear of waking this little angel. What mother hasn't been in this situation? Whether in the 19th century or today, it hasn't changed. This beautiful sculpture is all about the timelessness of motherhood.
The statue has been made from molded terracotta and entirely hand retouched and painted. It has been signed by the French sculptor: Joseph Le Guluche (1849-1915), one of the emblematic artists of Adam Island and produced by the manufacture D'Alphonse-Louis HANNE (1890-1908).
This a rare piece, hard to find, do not miss it !
