An antique oil painting on canvas mounted on a wooden panel, entitled The Luminous Shadow, dated 1927.
It was painted by Romain Steppe (Antwerp, January 1859 - November 1927), he was a Belgian painter, a realist painter of river and seascapes.
Romain Steppe was the son of a shipowner in the port of Antwerp and was twenty years old when he chose an artistic career. He was a pupil of E. Van, Charles Boland and Isidoor Meyers.
His Marines were full of unparalleled poetry and emotion.
The painting is signed lower left, on the back is a handwritten mention of the title (in Danish).
The painting is framed by a gilded wooden frame.
