A very decorative and collectable late 19th C pique assiette plate. Pique assiette is a favorite form of French mosaic folk art that incorporates shards of broken pottery into the creation. It was was a popular pastime, in the late 19th century.
The memory plate has been hand made from an old metal plate onto which has been stuck fragments of old broken pottery. This mosaic plate is one of a kind, because there is a lovely angel or Cupid figurine in the middle, made of unglazed porcelain (biscuit).
This unique, handmade, antique piece would add a French originality touch to any space. If you are looking for a pair, a similar plate is available in my shop (see last photo).
