A rare antique French medal dating to the 19th century. The old bronze amulet features St John Francis Regis. "He was a French priest of the Society of Jesus, recognized as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church in 1737. A tireless preacher, Regis is best known for his work with at-risk women and orphans. John Francis Regis is the patron saint of lacemakers, medical social workers, and illegitimate children".
The reverse of the pendant features the Holy Family with fine details: Mary sits with the baby Jesus on her lap; Joseph stands before them. Beautiful image of the Holy Family.
The medal floats from a new 18k gold-plated serpentine chain measuring 20 inches (50cm) long.
CONDITION: Good antique condition with some signs of ages.
