St Louis Of Gonzague Medal
A beautiful French antique religious medal made of sterling silver. Produced by Vachette (1753-1839), in the middle of the 19th century. This French silversmith is known to have designed the first "Miraculous medal". This pendant is unsigned but this design is known to have been produced by him.
The Catholic pendant features on the front, a portrait of Saint Louis of Gonzague, patron saint of youth. Around the edge is the inscription "Saint Louis de Gonzague, priez pour nous" - "Saint Louis of Gonzague, pray for us". On the reverse, the pendant depicts the image of an angel leading a small child. Around the edge is the inscription "Oh StAnge Gardien, soyez mon guide" - " Saint Guardian Angel be my guide".
This 19th century medal was found with two other pendants produced by Vachette .
One depicts Our Model Our Lady and the other depicts Mary conceived without sins
CONDITION: good with some normal signs of ages.
