A one of a kind travel and sewing etui dating to the 19th century, maybe earlier. The necessaire or etui is in the shape of a trompe l'oeil : a bundle of asparagus (bunch of asparagus). It has been finely carved and hand painted to look like genuine asparagus (bone or ivory). This is a very rare collectible small lidded box, perhaps unique. The tools are missing, only a small notebook remains.
